My brand new MBP!! Unboxing pics:http://www.flickr.com/photos/lu0s3r322/310594384/in/set-72157594399522400/ It's far better than I expected. Although I have a few questions:

When I put in a CD/DVD, the drive gets really loud when it takes the disc in like a really weird noise that I've never heard before. Maybe its because it's slot-loading. But after the disc is in, it just sounds regular. Is it supposed to sound like that?

Is there a way to set like a default internet connection?

Do I need to install IE for any like websites that are IE only? I think Safari and Firefox 2 are enough.
 
Congratulations!

A default internet connection? If you have ethernet plugged in, it will use that. If you turn Airport on, it will discover wireless networks. Very simple.

you don't need IE.

I have been assured (by many including a Genius) that the noise is normal. Yeah, I know, it sounds like someone kicking to get out of your drive. I guess it is the spinner thing latching onto the CD/DVD (yeah thats a technical term).
 
Hi, congratulation... I like a lot better this positives trends... :)

anyway, maybe it would hep: desactivate -in network sttings- the IPv6 config that is by default, my internet browsing goes far better now

;)
 
I have a MacBook, and it makes the weird noise when you put in a cd/dvd or eject one. My girlfriends does this too, and I've heard others do it as well, so no need to worry! All I have installed is Firefox 2.0 and Safari, and I havn't come across a page that won't open in the last 6 months since I've had my mac, so I'm sure you will be fine!

Yeup as they have said, its a normal sound, even my old PB G4 did it, sounds like something horrible oging on between them but it takes it every time XD
 
haha now that it's normal, it sounds kinda funny. like the laptop is gonna vomit out of some port or something :D :D :D
 
I don't think you actually *can* install IE, even if you did want to. I think Microsoft no longer supports it on the Mac platform - it was aged when they abandoned it.
 
Yeah...IE is dead for the mac. You shouldn't have any problems surfing the net unless you have to watch a powerpoint producer presentation (say that 5 times fast!); MS doesn't support all of the plug-ins/files necessary to view it on a mac :mad:
