Hello, I have an iPad Pro that’s on 15.7.2 and wondering if I should update to 17.3.1? Is there any known issues with 16/17? I ask because Apple constantly keeps dropping the ball on my other updates for AWU2, iPhone, and MBP…I’m starting to feel like the iPad is going to be the same but I’m hopeful it isn’t. Thank you, in advance.

I have 17.3.1 on M1 12.9, cellular Mini 6, and 14 Pro Max and am happy with it. As for known issues, there are for every single release, be it 15.x or 17.x. There are no issues with 17 the impact my usage.

Absolutely, all the iPads that can handle iOS 17 does it well. Looking at all the security updates that has been found, a few of them severe with a CVE score, you do want to have your device updated.

I have one of my iPad Pros (a 2018 one) on 15.7.2 and I haven't updated it yet. I have however updated all the others, including a 2017 pro. I haven't found any issue with 17, but I have the impressions it uses slightly more RAM, but the difference is really small. I'll probably update before 18 arrives. I couldn't care less about security on iPad instead, for me it makes zero difference (but to each its own, not here to open a can of worms...)

if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
That’s what I always say for software products.
Case in point, I’m still using technically outdated photoshop just so I can work.
Same applies to your iPad and iPadOS. There is no need to ruin the experience of your iPad if it could install iPadOS 15.
