I'm not a doctor, and I didn't sleep at a Holiday Inn Express last night, BUT....

Take a huge valium and relax. The horror stories you see here are a VERY small portion of everyone that has gotten a wonderful machine that doesn't have any dead pixels and works as advertised right out of the box.

Trust me, for every one complaint on here (some of which reveal almost obsessive, unrealistic expectations), there are hundreds if not thousands of satisfied customers that you hear nothing from.

If things were truly as bad as you're thinking they may be, Apple would be all over the news....and it'd be BAD news. They're not, so I'm not worried. My machine supposedly left Shanghai this morning. I'm waiting like you....just not as worried!! :)

I feel your pain. I just got my iMac 2.8 24" about two hours ago. No dead pixels, not a scratch anywhere. But, like you I was concerned. Keep in mind that most of the people that post here have issues. And they're picky, picky, picky:D.
Anyway, not to worry - you will love your new iMac and it will be perfect! These are awesome machines.

There are mainly three kinds of people...

1. Geeks like me who post to this forum.
2. People with problems who seek answers on a forum like this but otherwise wouldn't come here.
3. People who buy Macs and never have a problem, but aren't geeks so they never come here and post about how reliable their Macs are.

See what I'm getting at? A support forum is not even remotely representative of the overall Mac community. It contains geeks and people who have problems.

I don't want to sound patronizing, but you really should look into healthy ways to vent and control your stress. Stress is debilitating and causes long term health issues and really it's all for nothing.

I think he is a kid, he told me his parents bought him an iMac.

So be nice guys!

Eric, I am sure your iMac will be fine. Odds are on your side.

If the unthinkable happens and it has any of the problems listed, Apple will sset you straight right away.

Take your mind off it! You gotta long wait :)

You do know that your imac is covered by apple for one year from the original purchase date, with the option of extending it an extra 2 years, don't you? ;)
If there is a problem with any of the hardware, you will get it fixed or replaced; and i would assume that apple's quality has increased since the G4 iMacs.

Here's a little trick I use any time I start to notice myself or a friend getting worked up about something silly... I start asking myself (or them) questions like:

Is your loved one trapped in a collapsed coal mine?
Did you lose your home or go hungry today?
Was your dog hit by a car today?
Did you just find out you have cancer?

No? Well then it doesn't sound like you have any real problems. Relax. Reflect upon how relatively cushy your life is and how much you have to be thankful for, including the fact that you have a brand new iMac on the way.

I don't claim to know much, but I've come to learn this: Worrying about something which has a tiny chance of going wrong doesn't serve you. It hurts you. It will hurt your health and your relationships in the long run. Learn to stop now or live a long life of useless, debilitating worry.

I received my iMac 3 days ago, and it's perfect. No dead pixels, faulty drives, etc. It's been the best computer I've ever had and seen. Don't be worried. If it is DOA, you can return it for a new one.

I had a 20" for a week. I sold it to my brother and bought a 24". Both are defect free.

well it ships 27-29th...and its 2-5 days shipping...

so if it ships on the 27th(monday) then it should come either thurs(30th) or fri(31st)....since its 2-5 days...anyone think it will come thurs or fri?
