Now, freemium and buy to play all side, this is mainly a thread to promote and celebrate the quality of games that we are seeing, mainly from a graphical stand point.

Games like Darkness arises, Dungeon Hunter, Elders Scrolls Blades and Rolling Sky 2, look incredible and would not look out of place on a home console.

I remember a time when we would get cheap, grainy and stuttering games that we all thought was amazing back in the day (iPhone 3G), but now the quality is just immense.

It’s shocking to see how much has changed in such a short amount of time, and I think the majority has to do with Apples commitment to improving development for the iPhone. Technologies like Metal, programming languages like Swift and the increasing power of Apples In house chips have seriously given games a serious punch.

Maybe the majority of people don’t play games on their phones, I never use to either, until the quality started to come through. Now just imagine what the next 5 years will look like.

Whether you play games or not, I think it’s important just to acknowledge how advanced phones are becoming in the gaming Space.

Thanks for pointing out rolling sky and dungeon hunter. Just discovered them and they are indeed amazing.

Apple will succeed in the gaming sphere once they start pushing the devs to create simple, attractive and multiplayer games. Most of us who own a console or gaming PC see nothing in Elder Scrolls Blades or similar games. On the other hand, if I would have a simple game which I can just pick up and play on my way to work, compete with my friends in a fun way, and shut it off once my ride ends, then sure, I would be still playing with my iPhone...

I play Fortnite strictly on my phone and it runs 60 FPS at high quality. I'm still amazed at this capability. My 2014 rMBP can't run the game at all.

I don't playing any mobile games anymore, mostly due to reasons other than graphic capabilities, such as playing on a small screen, having to use the touch screen as controls, and everything is going towards the play-to-win model with IAP.

But, I would realky like to see some good games brought to the tvOS. The ATV4K has the power to to see console level graphics, but we get stuff like Crossyroads.

Quite the opposite. In 2011-2014 we had the Great Mobile Gaming Spring - we had a boatload of full-fledged PS2 ports (GTA 3 through LCS, Prince of Persia, Bully, etc.) and even BioShock (!!!!!) from the PS3/360.

Then all of a sudden that wave died and mobile gaming returned to sucking ass.

That Elder Scrolls thing is a disappointment. Graphics are not better than what we had in 2014. And the game looks exactly the same on my iPad Pro 1G and my XR. It uses zero of the new phones’ graphics power.

It's a pity that mobile gaming platform is such rubbish.

Yeah, the quality of the games is really high in terms of framerate and visual details, but there's no getting around that touchscreens aren't generally very practical or enjoyable for many types of games.

That's the payoff of Apple focussing on the GPU of the Ax chips and having Metal.

But I'm sure majority here will scoff off any technological marvel that Apple did simply because they cannot use their mouse and torrented game.

In the past year I’ve been addicted to Pubg mobile. First playing on my iPhone and started playing on the iPad for the big screen. PUBG has spoiled first person shooters on consoles for me. I’ve literally played hrs upon hrs on on.
