I'm using Lion as my main OS...Deal with it!

Hi all,

Just wanted to give some feedback on my first couple of days using Lion. Don't worry NDA freaks; I'm not going to reveal any mojo.

So far Lion is very stable. I have not had any major issues or software conflicts. The only real bug I notice is sometimes the menu bar tends to disappear. It is easily fixed by gesturing to the dashboard and back to the desktop.

Finder is heavily improved over SL. Gestures are all over the place. The overall UI experience has been refined and has a heavy aluminum appearance.

I installed Lion over Snow Leopard; upgrade style. No issues and took less than 10 minutes to install (on SSD). No issues with the whole Mac App Store process. No data loss, luckily. I would say it is safe to install over SL.

My system is a mid-2010 15" HR AG MBP 2.66 i7 8GB RAM 128GB SSD.

Ditto, surprisingly stable for the first build.

No problems. Fingers crossed though.

I did have a kernel panic when I tried to open Garageband. Stay away from Garageband.

I've seen a lot of people say that garageband is having problems. It immediately crashes and closes when I open it.

Amen. I'm using it as my one and only OS too. Although I'm impatiently waiting for the next build nonetheless.

And this is why many of us are worried that Apple will further restrict developer releases.

We got SL a year in advance so that real developers could make sure their software worked and ideally even take advantage of the new APIs.

This year most developers are getting only like 4 months because people don't care about NDAs anymore and developer releases have essentially become public betas so Apple can't release really early builds.

So iPhone1, what Mac application are you preparing for release on Lion this summer?
