Okay so can someone clarify something for me. In iCloud we have one universal password right? Or it is separate passwords for iCloud Mail and the actual iCloud Account?

I ask this because the password I tried to add my new .me address to my iChat with, says the password is incorrect. This is the same password that lets me log into the iCloud website with the five icons, it works on that site but it wont let me add the account to iChat.

When I type in my address i.e. johndoe@me.com. The password I add in wont work. It says its incorrect.

To further complicate things I went into my Phone Setting > iCloud > Account.

Here the password has 8 characters but the password I use to log into the iCloud site is 14 characters long. I don't remember setting up a 8 character password... Is that the password that iChat wants?

I'm very confused... Please Help!

Bump.. Please Help!

Sorry if I seem impatient its just that I'm waiting on an answer and need to get this sorted as soon as possible.

Okay I just tried to add my iCloud Mail account to the Mail App in Snow Leopard and it added fine, there was no password problems. I'm guessing it might be a problem with iChat?

This still leaves me confused about why the PW in the iCloud settings is 8 characters long but the password I use is 14 characters. Can someone please clarify this?

Don't know about the iChat part. I'll try to test tonight (unless someone else can test now).

As for the password, I assume it's just truncated to fit the screen.

Yeah you're probably right about that, I just asked a friend and his characters don't match either. As for iCloud I'm guessing its a problem with the programme.

Apple have been slipping with things like this lately. First iCloud Mail wasn't working and now the account won't add to iChat... frustrating to say the least.

I tried adding it as a MobileMe account and as an AIM account but both come up with the same error. It just keeps asking for the password saying that the inputted one is wrong.

Has anyone managed to add their .me address created with iCloud to iChat?

ARGH okay scratch my previous post now hes saying his PW is 10 characters long and he has 10 dots. Another person has 14 character PW and 14 dots.

Why is mine 8 dots when I have 14 characters!!!

FINAL EDIT: Okay I just re-input the password and it just truncated it to 8 dots. So you were right, I still think its strange how other peoples do not truncate. Also, I apologise for my constant posting, I just want to get to the bottom of this.
