Bluetooth 3.0 seems like a somewhat poorly thought out technology, to me... I saw a release this morning on that new Samsung phone that has it, but honestly, I don't know.
When BT came out, there was all kinds of excitement over using it for file transfers, wireless printing, as a wireless remote, etc, etc. I actually did many of these things with it (not wireless printing). Some 7 years after my first bluetooth phone, basically bluetooth is used for pairing to headsets, handsfree car systems, and stereo headphones, and no one is doing much of any of that other stuff with BT, instead using 802.11.
This new technology uses an 802.11 radio, so most likely, any device with this BT standard is also going to have WiFi. Even 802.11g is already faster than BT3.0, from what I can see (54MBPS vs. 24). So first, why use bluetooth for this purpose, rather than an ad hoc technology (Bonjour, etc) on top of 802.11?
Second, this new standard doesn't seem to do much of anything to make the handsfree applications people actually do use, any better.
Am I missing some really great killer app for this technology (I know that the thread is tongue-in-cheek, but I wanted to ask anyways
).

The devices pair over Bluetooth, activate WiFi for transfer. When the speed is not needed, they just do everything over Bluetooth.
So, it's a battery saving technology.
