I'm not sure if what I'd like to achieve is possible .

A weekly live radio type show with video also with a way of somehow making the 'show' interactive via chat
I''ll be running a blog during the week then having the 'show' at the weekend .

Really love to hear some thoughts & ideas from you guys

You mean weekly video podcast? What about? What is your business model? How are you going to make money?

Must be iTunes and iPhone friendly.

How interactive? Blogging and chatrooms are good. Live feeds require your own server for the most part. Bandwith cost money.

I suppose i do yes , I wasn't sure of the terminology :)

What about?
Life & times of a dj on the road
What is your business model?
Not thought about that really
How are you going to make money?
Not intending to make money , I'm doing it for a hobby , but some coins would be nice I suppose

Ok sounds like a good idea , how ?

A chat room/forum or just a simple live chat would be great so folks can comment whilst the 'show' is live .
I don't have a server as such but I do have an old iMac , would that do ?
...as far as bandwith , I'm unsure about that whole area really, do you have any suggestions ?

thanks

My thoughts part 2;

Use the videopodcast to sell your business. Always money first with me.

If you have a camcorder, record footage of your gigs. You can then come up with something creative mixing video with stills ect.

What comes to mind is some of those fashion design video podcast. Your content can be about whats going on latest gear, techniques, artists etc.

For it to work it has to be slick, catching and current. It's got to be hip.

You can place adverts for your business in the podcast.

Keeps it small see if you get a following.

Go to Apple.com and research iTunes and podcast. You can find some great info there. Especially look at the Quicktime Pro tutorials as well as Final Cut.

Forget about live interactive stuff for now. Way too time consuming. See if you have a viable product first.

That's the idea , recording gigs to make available as videopodcast to go into a blog , while also having a live interactive video show from the studio on a weekly basis.

I have a small following which has prompted me to search out the necessary to enable me to make this a reality.... if I make money great , if I don't great

Interactive is a key part in what I would like to achieve so if time consuming it is , so be it .

Slick , current and hip sounds like what I would like this to be for sure .....I can handle the content , it's the technology to run it I need help with

Is there a thoughts part 3 ? :) .

Make the website & set it up with the blog. Then you can head over to UStream.TV or Mogulus.com and setup your live show. Both of those I mentioned allow you to stream live and offer chat rooms. I prefer Mogulus because it is more versatile but UStream will probably work better for you. As soon as the live show is over, you can have UStream automatically syndicate the show over to Blip.TV which produces a feed that can be subscribed to in iTunes. You can take the player & chat for both of those sites and embed it on your own site. :)

If you are having the live show as well as the video podcast, go with Mogulus. Again, it is way more versatile and will produce a more professional show. Mogulus (as well as UStream) will allow you to record the shows and offer them on demand to your viewers. Oh, & they're both free to use. They take care of the bandwidth/distribution/storage. Pretty slick.

One last thought... You might want to use Blip.TV for your video podcast anyway (assuming it is separate from the live show) so they handle the bandwidth/RSS distribution/storage.

Sounds absolutely perfect , thanks

I can't believe a solution as slick exists & it's exactly what I need too ,I really appreciate the heads up :)
