Well anyways.

I was thinking, if Apple would have computers set up in their stores (duh, i know they have computers), and allow the buyers of the phone to enter in their info as if they were buying a phone on cingular.com (actually att). let that do the credit check then your all set.

does that sound possible for apple stores?

Yep. It's been covered in other threads.

They don't know exactly how the process goes, yet, but they do have AT&T equipment in the store ready to go. I don't think it does much, since Apple's already sent out public email saying iTunes was required to complete the setup.
