Imac 1 TB Drive

Does anyone know what the model number is for the 1TB Serial ATA Drive that you can get for the new 2008 Aluminum iMac?

I have a 2007 Aluminum iMac with a 500 GB drive and am looking to upgrade it to 1 TB.

I want a larger drive, but love how quiet the 500 GB drive (WDC WD5000AAKS) that I have right now.

You should be able to buy pretty much any SATA drive for it. If you like the WD drive you have, find the equivalent 1TB model. Apple uses a variety of drives in there computers but a quick Google search should lead you to the exact model if you really want to get that one. Hope this helps.

I tried researching the current model used by Apple but can not find it. The WD model used in my current iMac only goes to 750 MB.

Interesting reading. It seems like the Caviar Green would be good for both size and noise. I have read some reviews that question this drive for doing video related tasks and as the main drive.

Has anyone had real world experience? How would it be for watching tv with elgato eyetv? Watching and editing recorded video?

Has anyone tried the WD RE3 Enterprise SATA Hard Drives. While it is $50 more expensive it is very fast and is reported as quiet.

I guess I am leaning towards the Caviar Green (WD10EADS) because it is quiet and close to the performance of my current drive (Caviar SE16). As the review you pointed out said, it is better for power and heat.

I saw the Samsung F1 Spinpoint (HD103UJ) and liked the performance, but it looked like it had too many failures.

The Caviar Black (WD1001FALS) is great performance, but it is too loud.

I wish Western Digital made a 1 TB Blue drive that was in the same class as my Caviar SE16.
