Looking to buy iMac (24" plenty) buying 16GB on principle and because keep too many browser tabs/wondows open.

Buy iMac m1 now?
Will price iMac M1 drop after m3 released?
iMac M3 really offer anything over M1 to basic user?

Thanks for your time.

  1. If you need it.
  2. Yes.
  3. M3 will be faster/more efficient. However, if by 'basic user' you mean email, web, photos, MS Office etc.. Then M3 won't make any of those feel faster because the M1 already easily handles those tasks. i.e. will a Ferrari get you to work faster than a Toyota if you don't exceed local speed limits?
In short, the iMac is old in terms of not being updated for a while, but it is still a very capable computer for most normal daily computing tasks. Put it this way, I bought my dad an M1 Mac mini earlier this year and it will last him 5-7 years easily.
