New iMac 20" 2.66ghz, 4gb apple ram, purchased May 7th, 2008

Freezes if I play a game like WoW (and others) where the top of the unit gets pretty warm. Freeze requires hard reboot via holding power button for 5 seconds.

I thought Apple fixed the iMac freezing problem back in Nov. 2007? I see others are running into this too in other forums.

Is it back to quality problems for Apple? Anyone else seeing this? What a pisser. Guess I have to call Apple and report the unit DOA to get it replaced.

hmmm thats strange i also have the same Mac as you, havent noticed one issue yet. If i were you i would call the customer apple care and see what they can do with that im sure they can fix the prob. if that doesnt work. exchange or return it to where you purhased the lil beast from:D

Completely freezing while running a game sounds like an overheat problem. Contact Apple.

I believe the problem has to do with 10.5.3, revert back to 10.5.2 and it should clear it up.

yes revert it back to the version you had before i did that and it worked for me on my 20". Earlier this after noon my 20" screen kept doin that and I restarted it and it would not turn back on. went to best buy....told them what happened luckily i was talking to a good friend. he exchanged it for a brand new 24" since there was no more 20" left and i got 200.00 he used his employee discount and also i have been in there about 3 times already with issues. :D. still getting to the brightness of this screen though
