From a purely gaming perspective does the 2.8GHz 2GB RAM show enough gains over the 2.4GHz 2GB model to justify the extra cost ?

Gains in ripping speed photoshop are immaterial for me. I dont use such products that often.

Thanks in advance

Well it'll largely depend on what games you are talking about. Todays DX10 games, older DX8 or 9 games, or future games?

Not all games rely on the GPU. For example MS Flight Simulator relys heavilly on CPU resources where the extra speed of the 2.8 will be utilised for a better gaming experience.

Similarly, future games may rely on increased CPU - so from a future proof perspective, it would be wise to get the extra horsepower.
