I am going to be getting my first mac (iMac) in a few days hopefully, and I can't wait. I am not a fan of the ATI graphic cards in them though and was wondering if there is new updates in January, will it be possible to change the new graphics card into mine, if I put it in for service?

I haven't heard anything of that sort being done.
You may be able to do it yourself if you buy the graphics card and won't have to wait for the new iMacs.
If would just recommend waiting until January if you can.

mm, I think it's very very hard and expensive to change the graphic card from an iMac because of the small space and how other cards could overheat. in my opinion, I say wait until MacWorld for a new graphic card that will hopefully come and then you can have a better one without problems of changing :D

Thanks but I am getting this iMac at a steal as long as all goes well need confirmation on monday, but it'll be a 2.66Ghz stock standard for $1200 AUS and for me in Australia that's an $800 discount so I'm going to get it no matter what maybe I'll just forget about any gaming on it and get a PS3 instead or something.

Oh and thanks for you really quick replies =]

I was going to try to push my dad to replace his iMac G5 (pre-iSight) until I saw the specs. Knowing that Apple seems to be making a switch to the Nvidia GPUs, I figured it would be worth waiting to see what January brings. Who knows, maybe Apple could even work out the Blu-ray deal by then.

Right now, I'm trying to fix the darn thing because it won't boot, so I do feel kinda like the Mac gods are saying something. :)
