iMac (2006) - MXM video card replacement

Hi,
is it possible to put some newer MXM card in White, 24" iMac (2006.)?

Can I buy some card from newer Aluminum iMac (2007/2008)? will it work in iMac 2006.?

I would like to put 8800GS card...

but here I talking about Apples card, only from newer model...
I think that only fiting could be problem.

Why? Because there were no other MXM video cards made that fit the 2006 Imac. Apple decided to go to discrete (soldered on) graphics chips with the nvidia 9400m.

Searching this forum for "MXM" will reveal other threads with the same information.

I think you are wrong

1) there is few MXM card for iMacs (or bunch of it ):

2) "discrete graphics" is NOT integrated! take a look at:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graphics_processing_unit#Dedicated_graphics_cards

anyway, nvidia 9400 is used only in newest low-end iMac! All other have some kind of MXM card (ATI and nvidia have different standards for "laptop" aka MXM graphics card so I suppose that I can not use ATI card for sure, maybe 8800GS from 24" Alu. iMac 2007.)...
