iMac (2007) aluminum won't auto sleep

Hi gang:
I have an aluminum Intel (2007) iMac and I have had it for two years now. I love my Mac and would never go back to a PC now, BUT (you knew that was coming) I have recently (unfortunately I don't know exactly when) developed a problem in that my iMac will not auto sleep. The screensaver will kick in OK, but it will not go to sleep on its own. I can put it to sleep from the menu manually, but not by the setting in System Preferences. I have reset the PRAM, and the SMC and neither of those changes have worked. Have any of you had this issue and solved it? Any help appreciated.

Bump. Same problem here, only intermittently.

Solved!

YMark: I solved my issue and I should have posted back here to let everyone know the solution (for me anyway). After much digging around, I used the Activity Monitor utility included with OSX to look at the "My Processes" page of that utility. What I found was that there was a remnant left over of a program that I had downloaded and installed (ControllerMate IV) and thought I had uninstalled. Turns out that the program came with it's own uninstaller (I had forgotten that ) so I used AppZapper! to uninstall. I simply downloaded ControllerMate IV again, ran the uninstaller and voila! Problem solved.
So what all that means is that if you have already tried resetting the PRAM, and the SMC, then you likely have a program trying to load itself at startup or run during operation and the program is either not there or it's corrupt. So look at Activity Monitor and if you see a program or programs there that you thought you uninstalled, that's likely the culprit. Depending on what program(s) you find, your next step is to get rid of the entry in your startup routine. That means unistalling the offending program by what ever means you need to get it out.
