I just got a defective 2008 20" iMac. It has a 2.4 Ghz CPU. Now it is running again (defective GPU). So i had a look at the specs and i noticed it has a 2.4 Ghz Core2Duo... well a E8135... But that should be a 2.667Ghz. Now i had a look at everymac and noticed some strange.

The 20" are somehow clocked lower. The E8135 is a 2.667 and the 8335 is a 2,933. But there are clocked at 2.4 and 2.66. The 24" are clocked right. The E8235 is a 2.8 and the E8435 is the 3.06. But how is that possible and is there a way to change that?

And i have a X7900 2.8 800 from the late 2007. Would that one work in the 2008? The 2008 should be running at 1066Mhz FSB.

At the 2009 20" the CPU is clocked right.

I could not find any information about this on Google. And what would a E8235 (2,8) would do in a 20".

Nobody?? Well i installed the X7900 2.8Ghz 800Mhz FSB into and that worked. Although the lower FSB and decreased cache is the machine somewhat faster.
