iMac 2010 core internal hard drive or partition erasure?

Hi there,

I want to erase all the info on my iMac and then reinstall Snow Leopard.

Why is there a 20 gig difference between the internal hard drive (WWNP etc., etc,)and the one and only partition (disk os2)? You wouldn't have this disparity on a PC.

Thanks in advance from an absloute Mac noob
