Given: iMac (27-inch, Mid 2010), CPU 2.8 GHz Intel Core i5, EMC 2390
Problem: Would not turn on (no sign of life), before dying screen froze

I went through the basic steps - SMC reset, etc. Removed the screen. There are no troubleshooting LEDs on the MB. Pulled out and tested the HD - it's OK.

I'm looking for troubleshooting manuals/instructions for non-dummies.

Thank you

For iMac 27" 2010, the LEDs are hidden under black tape. I've never seen the LEDs on my iMac 2010, either.
Try this:
Put back the HDD, but remove the MXM card. (remove the LCD panel, too)
If the iMac boot up (fans are spinning, HDD spinning), then the culprit is the dead MXM card (common issues with these model)
If not, then you have to test other parts one-bye-one (PSU, Logicboard), by transplant them to another working iMac 27" 2010.
