If this the wrong thread to post my question; just let me know where to post the question

I just called Apple and was told that the Studio Display is compatible with an iMac 2017 and later can be used as a second Monitor.
Any ideas or suggestions about where this can checked?

  • 24-inch iMac (2021)
  • 27-inch iMac (2017 or later)
  • 21.5-inch iMac (2017 or later)
  • iMac Pro (2017)
Studio Display is compatible with the following iPad models running iPadOS 15.4 or later:2
  • iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd generation or later)
  • iPad Pro 11-inch

The iMac 2017 has two Thunderbolt 3 ports at the back, this alone ensures the displaying is going to work. As for the other functions like webcams and truetone I think Apple is going to support all of that since the Mac is listed on the compatibility list.

And yes you can use either the iMac internal or the Studio Display as a 2nd extended desktop, just set it in System Prefs.
