Hello there.
I've ordered an 27''iMac with the 8GB ram stock. I was wondering if I add another 16GB (making a total of 24GB) will I have any problems like shutdowns or crashes? If the 16GB ram specs are the same, should work fine?

Thank you

That is correct, just get the correct RAM that has specs matched to your system and there won’t be any issues. It’s a decent amount of savings versus paying for upgrades through Apple. Congrats on the new iMac, you’re going to love it when it comes in!

Newbie here, that is exactly what I did. Installed before the machine was fired up. Easily done with no issues. OWC used.

Same thing I did. 4 weeks ago I got a New 27" iMac 5K 2017, i5 3.5GHz, 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD and Radeon 575 GPU. Before turn it ON for the first time I did install 16GB of Crucial iMac memory in the two free slots, turned it ON and all good since the beginning. Running 24GB RAM without any issues. Just make sure to get the Crucial iMac certified RAM.

Same. Got our iMacs and Crucial memory from B&H,,,,no tax or shipping. Added 16GB in each before first boot. Running with 24GB just fine...and for lower cost than 16GB from Apple.

Thank you for your answer. I own a MBP, but this is my first iMac. ^_^

Thank you for the link. I'm from Europe, so that means that if I buy from the US or other non-european country, import taxes are due to be payed... And they are not small... :( But ill see an European alternative. Again, thank you.
