Do they ever do refreshes in January? Right after the holidays?

Don't agree with you.

I think it will be spring '17 at the earliest and possibly won't happen until summer (as is normal).

And that's a pretty bad time to do a refresh anyway, isn't it.

Right after the holidays. Way to make everyone immediately hate the gift they got.
Not really. It means that logistics isn't going to be a nightmare, as sales are lower and they can have an easier time producing and shipping units.

Unlikely. Launch doesn't depend soley on Kaby Lake (or Sky Lake). Though Jan and Feb may bring us some appetizing rumors if we’re lucky, and bands. That being said, my hope is the ‘announcement’ arrives on March 30th 2017. That’d make about 534 days since last release. Just in time for April’s Fools’ ;-)

No Vega though. Scary? Yeah, maybe pricing :-o

Retail wise, January is typically a dead month because most people are piss poor thanks to the holidays. I think we'd see something later in the year.

Apple could be planning not only a redesign but also a rearchitechiture using their inhouse ARM chip design. Maybe a more powerful version of the A10 Fusion and GPU. Right now Apple is at the mercy of Intel for its release schedule. Just a thought.

I'm thinking late March is likely. Also hoping for some sort of physical redesign that could be implemented by then.

Must be "Spring" (= 3rd week of March):

- iMac with Kaby Lake + new AMD GPUs + USB-C + TB3
- I still doubt they will refresh the Mini, think it's RIP
- Also doubts about the Pro, it's a niche
- iPad Pro update, maybe even the rumoured 10.5" model ?

Looks like Apple can only "1.5" product launch per special meeting. So my best guess is iMac with new CPU/GPU
and new iPads.

Mini is dead I think.

I don't think the mini is going anywhere but I don't think they will redesign it. They will keep that for a lower end community that doesn't want to buy a imac.

My mac mini is on my TV and works great

I haven't turned my mini on in months that is connected to the tv - the Apple TV does a much better job.

Has happened many times. Heck, the Macbook Pro and Intel switch was announced in January, which was a pretty big f------- deal. :p

Well those days were when Apple announced new products at MacWorld, which was in January.

As to when we'll see the new machines, IMO it depends on what they're going to do with the iMac. If it's just a spec bump, then I could see it come out in January or February once the CPUs and GPUs are ready. If they plan a design change / refresh, then I believe it will be part of the iPad launch in March.

MacWorld

:(

wish we could go back to old apple

We have been waiting for the iMac refresh thinking that it would occur this fall. We need to replace a 27" 2009 model. When the new ones come out we will buy.
