Hello guys

I come to you to ask your opinion before buying a second-hand iMac, probably renovated, found in a store

I want to clarify that the hard drive is an HDD thing which is weird for an imac 2020, is this normal? Has the original hard drive probably an SSD been removed and replaced with an HDD, is this possible ?, and is there a way to change this HDD to an SSD.

Configuration:

NEW GENERATION

IMAC SLIM

21.5 ’’ RETINA 5K

2020

NEW IN PACKAGING

CPU INTEL CORE I3 3.6GHZ

RAM 8GB DDR4 2667MHZ

1000GB 1TB HDD DISC

WIFI / BLUETOOTH / WEB CAM

USB 3.0

GRAPHICS

AMD RADEON PRO 555X 2GO

GDDR6

21.5 ”RETINA 5K SCREEN

ANTI REFLECTION

MAC OS 11.0 BIG SUR

Thanks a lot guys

Apple switched the default storage from a 1 TB hard drive to a 256 GB SSD only later for this version.
You can switch to SSD at any time.

It is still possible to buy a new 21.5" iMac with a Fusion drive in 2020/2021.
Weird only in that it is a poor configuration choice.
Note, however, this is technically a 2019 model (Model Identifier: iMac19,2). There is no 2020 model 21.5" iMac.

Note also the RAM is not easily upgradable by the user on the 21.5 iMac (unlike the 27" iMac). 8GB RAM is not much by current standards, but will be OK for general use. Hopefully you are getting it for a good price, because it is not a great configuration, IMO.

That would have to be a really good price. You can add an external SSD. While it is technically possible to replace the internal HDD. It's not an easy procedure as the computer is glued together.

There is no 21.5" 5k iMac, it is 4k.
Good point.
There are a bunch of errors in the description including all the items in red text below:

NEW GENERATION (??? 2019 is not new generation)

IMAC SLIM (what does this mean???)

21.5 ’’ RETINA 5K (should be 4K)

2020 (2019 model)

NEW IN PACKAGING

CPU INTEL CORE I3 3.6GHZ

RAM 8GB DDR4 2667MHZ (should be 2400MHz)

1000GB 1TB HDD DISC

WIFI / BLUETOOTH / WEB CAM

USB 3.0

GRAPHICS

AMD RADEON PRO 555X 2GO

GDDR6 (should be GDDR5)

21.5 ”RETINA 5K SCREEN (should be 4K)

ANTI REFLECTION

MAC OS 11.0 BIG SUR

I would be wary. The description does not quite add up.

While not a current option, that model could be had with just a 1tb spinning drive. As such it would be really slow. Moderately difficult to upgrade the internal drive but an external SSD could be added and use as the main drive. That exact model is currently available on the refurb store for $1,059 which includes a full warranty and eligible for Applecare. If you can get it for less than $800 it might be worth it but I wouldn't pay any more than that.
