Dear all,

I'm looking at purchasing the 21.5" 3.2Ghz iMac and was wondering if someone who has the machine can help me with the following questions.

1. I play World of Warcraft and was wondering during gameplay does the fan get noisy? If so, how noisy is it?

2. Does the fan get noisy when watching youtube?

3. I use headphones with the Mac - will there be much noise (static or otherwise) through the headphones?

I've tried googling the answers for over an hour now. Would really appreciate if someone can help me out!

Cheers,

Mia

On the newer iMacs you cannot hear the fans, on the sub 2007 iMacs, the fans roared like a basterd.

Sorry for the short reply, hope I helped. a little.

Should be all but silent unless you are running heavier stuff for quite a while, and even then, it should be very very quiet. You won't hear any static/noise through the headphones unless you have a bad connection or a bad jack, so you don't need to worry about that.

I've got the 3.2GHz 21.5" and its extremely quiet. Even when gaming solidly there is virtually no noise.

Thanks all, every bit of information is helpful. I have been trying to find an answer for a long time and you guys are well and truly fantastic!

I am also thinking of changing the i3 to i5, would that effect the fan noise levels in any way?

Cheers,

Mia

I use headphones ith my mac sometimes and I can't hear any static. I sometimes play bad company 2 in bootcamp and the I can't hear the fans. For YouTube I would join the beta HTML 5 YouTube by going onto YouTube.com/html5 only downside to it is that they can't play fullscreen yet. It is an awesome machine though and you shouldn't run into any trouble with it. Had mine since september and running lovely.
