I replaced the hard drive with a ssd in my iMac mid 2010, and all went well with 3 of the 4 cables connecting the LCD to the rest.
But my screen is black and i can't get the wide golden cable back into its socket! all guides seem to just skip that part.
I really need help
Thank you very much in advance
and yes i know it was a terribly stupid thing to do

I can't help you with the 21.5" model, but I had a 24" model that I was having a similar problem with after replacing the hard drive. I found a bunch of helpful videos on you tube. Just search for "imac hard drive replacement" (or something similar).
