Originally the computer wouldn't be usable after booting for ~15 minutes and would just have spinning beachball. After that it would work, but very slowly and it was very common to get beachballing for simple tasks. Ended up wiping the HD and reinstalling from scratch. Functionality is now acceptable, however console continuously runs showing what seems to be an excessive amount of background activity whether connected to the internet or not, or whether signed into icloud or not, or whether booted in safemode or not. On a recent bootup, console logged around 6k messages in under 5 minutes or so of idle on time.

Here is a pastebin with redacted user information of a snippet of console activity

fresh install of 10.12.3 on a wiped hard drive
iMac 21.5 3.06ghz 8gb ram

any insight as to what is causing this would be greatly helpful.
