Hi guys,

I bought an iMac from Comet (in the UK) in October. It's the latest model of the 21 inch iMac, though the cheapest spec.

Firstly, I absolutely adore it. It's the best computer I've ever owned and it's doing things I never even knew I'd be able to do! The GarageBand/iWeb software is just superb.

Anyway, since having it for the past few months, I've noticed some little imperfections emerge in the screen. It's odd - they almost look like little bubble below the surface of the glass. They're not immediately noticeable when the screen is on, but they are apparent when it is turned off.

Does anyone know what the procedure is for doing something about this - given that it was purchased from Comet? Do I make a Genius Bar appointment, or is it for Comet to do something about it?

...or if anyone recognises this odd imperfection - is there anything I can do myself to sort it out, without the need to take the computer anywhere?

Any help greatly appreciated!

You warranty allows you to take it back to Comet or book an appointment at the Genius Bar if you are near to an Apple Store.

I would go to the Apple Store if it's convenient.

Thanks Olly. This is really helpful.

Are Apple able to replace the front part of the screen without the need to replace the whole thing?

Cheers guys - these are all good tips. I've booked in to the Genius Bar on Tuesday in my local Leicester Apple Store.

Presumably I need my original Comet receipt and only the iMac itself (no mouse or keyboard) needs to be take in in the box?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-gb) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C148 Safari/6533.18.5)

You only need the machine. Take all of the receipts that you have just in case. Best of luck!

You can take the receipt to be sure but all they usually do is check the serial number of the iMac to make sure it's still in warranty.

You don't need to take the mouse or keyboard. It's up to you whether you take the box, though it will probably safer if you do.
