Canada EH!!!
Does this screen look bad enough to justify replacement? I took the picture with the camera on my MacBook.

I purchased this 24" 2.8GHz iMac when the aluminum version first came out. I only noticed this issue recently.

Thanks.

Oh .. I thought it was obvious.

There is a darker strip down the center of the screen (the center 1/3 of the screen).

Cheers.

alu iMac screens are generally ghetto... you probably have screen bleed too, which you will notice around the edges or corners when the screen is all black...

you can take it to an apple store and see what the techs say. if they say it's within spec you can argue with them until they agree to send the machine in for a screen replacement. go here to read more: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/477160/

The important thing after spending all that money is to ask yourself if you'd be happy to use that screen for the next 3 or 4 years? If the answer is no then take it back and either ask for a replacement or a refund. Good luck.

I had the same problem, or at least very similar. I went for a refund, because it was going on my nerves after a few days.

Looks bad to me - I take it this iMac is approaching a year old ? Not sure your going to get very far...

Are you saying the gradient has just appeared or that you've only just noticed it ?

It just appeared about a week ago. It was fine up to that point in time.

I'll drop it off for service this week and I'll let you guys know what happens.

Cheers.
