Hi,

my girlfriend needs a new computer and I have an offer for a current iMac. The specs are:

iMac 24, 2,8Ghz, 2GB Ram, 320GB HD, 2600PRO. So pretty much the current standard Aluminium iMac. The machine is 3 months old, was bought end of July and is in mint condition, nothing wrong with it at all, inspected it myself.

He wants to sell it because he plans on getting the new model. I don't really need the (rumored) new graphics and what not and just want to save a bit. The machine is powerful enough for years for what my girlfriend wants to do with it.

So the question is, how much should I pay for the machine? What do you guys think? He hinted at $1500, is that ok, too much?

thanks for your input

John

The Apple store has refurbed machines with the same specifications for $1549. They give you an additional 3mo Applecare and a machine that has all the original disks and packaging. If you are sure it is well cared for, offer $1450 or so and if he balks mention that you would get the extra warranty time from the refurb (likely been checked over buy apple better then you can check his).

Wouldn't hurt to mention that the new iMac rumors speak of imminent updates so it might not be good to wait for another buyer.

Thanks for the answer. Don't forget that in the refurb store you have to add tax to the price. So for me that's another $100 on top of the $1549.

So in essence if I can get it for $1450, a $200 discount to the refurb store, it's not such a bad deal right?
