iMac 24" core duo 2 Vista RC2 installation problem

Hi,

I'm having trouble installing Vista RC2 on my iMac (24" Core Duo 2).
I've partitioned the harddisk with Boot Camp 1.1.1 (200GB for Vista...) and followed the instructions. Well, Vista setup refuses to install on the new partition...

Can someone help?

If you have an XP install CD around, use that to start the install of XP - use it to format the Boot Camp partition and then, before the file copy is done, simply stop the process or just turn the power off. I know it's a bit insane, but what that does is set up the partition so the Vista installer can see it.

Remember: Boot Camp is designed primarily for Windows XP - not Vista, not 98SE, not ME, not 2K3, nothing else but XP. Vista's installer is a lot different than XP's and it's a lot pickier when it comes to finding the necessary drive to install to. The fact that Boot Camp works at all is pretty amazing, really, but it's designed for XP only. If you get Vista installed, great, but Apple doesn't wanna hear complaints about non-XP installs.

Boot Camp is unsupported software, also, so that's another reason they don't want to hear complaints.

XP format first and then Vista didn't work either...

I tried formatting the partition with XP installation and something wierd happened... Vista (and XP also BTW) saw the partition as 200GB with 100GB free space?!?

This raised a red flag, so, I run Coot Camp again, this time with 32GB for XP (instead of the 200GB) and everything worked fine.

BTW, if someone know why the partition size affect Vista installation process I'll appriciate his comments...
