I bought the 4 port iMac because my other one was not working well and it was beyond fixing.

Anyway, I was trying to use the new one when my daughter called and I spoke to her from the computer. that never happened before, I looked up why and it was pleasant. So that is a keeper.

Curious, I don't see any air vents on this model. Are there ?

Next surprise, I decided it was time to plug stuff in. The external drive fine, but when I went to put in the USB from the desk printer, it won't fit. I see 4 ports, 2 thunderbolt and 2 USB-C. So I have coming from Amazon, two USB-C to USB adapters. I opted for the more expensive Apple. We have an Apple store, but too lazy to drive out there. It is a way way out there location, almost a county over. I hope that helps.

I did have to order a new color laser as the one I am replacing doesn't show up on the printer list since we got Fiber installed. This one has Airprint and I hope that when it is on the new network , we can access it from my computer and my wife's Macbook Air. Otherwise, she is going to need to get a PC laptop which can see the printer. She is a teacher and of course she has to be able to print stuff.

I like the finger touch button on the keyboard, but wish Apple would have had the larger keyboard with the keypad with that option. Maybe someone will decide it might sell. I have big hands so the smaller board is a something to get working.

Last, I notice a faint smell with the new one. I am guessing it is new components settling in. Some how as I aged, my sense of smell has got better.

Initially I had planned on upgrading to a new Imac in August for my 75th birthday gift to myself, and then I was going to load it up. I settled for the green, 8gig ram 256 drive. I got a feeling that Apple was pushing the cloud for music and pictures. I do need to clean out my documents.

WX I've been digging mine since last Apr., just used the ph. (happens daily) & have the new Satechi base/hub here on Fri. I need to upgrade my printer, which did you buy & thoughts on it w/ the iMac?

If the adapters doesn't work, then I will go for the same base you have. the printer I got ordered is Brother HL-L3230CDW

I would have kept the old one if were not for the wireless situation with the new modem. CentLink says it can't rename the 2.4 and the 5 channels . I bet they could. I have toyed with the idea of getting a router, plugging it into the modem and then connecting to the 2.4 side, but then again...

lucky you! We mere mortals had to wait for 30th April just to order...

the local store had one, and nine dollars to deliver it out to me. I wish the Mac system would be like the dell backup we have. It saw the old printer wirelessly on the home net. BUT for some reason the apple macs cannot do that with the 2.4/5g modems. Now if they could improve the compatibily of the OSX to allow that to happen, improve things, I bet they would sell more computers.

The USB adapters worked. I don't think I have any more USB things to deal with. Now to wait for the new printer and get that online, run a ethernet cord to a switch to run 2 items that connect that way, and maybe run a cord from the ethernet switch to the brick. why go for 500mbps when I can go for 960? and no, they didn't fix the phone. I have to wait until Monday. Anyway. I have removed some files and apps so I have more space on the puny hard drive, I think I will opt for the keypad with the keyboard , still trying to get used to the small keyboard. I have no idea why Apple things this tiny board is great. a full size I could use,

"I see 4 ports, 2 thunderbolt and 2 USB-C."

The two "thunderbolt" ports are USBc, also.
They just have thunderbolt capabilities added on.

So... you can plug a USBc device into ANY port on the back.

all are the old USB so right now adapters work, but down the road a bit, I might invest in a hub that takes care of that. Right now, just my UPS and one desk printer.

My ethernet is the connection from the DVR and the IP logger from the weather station. When I can afford it, I plan on upgrading the keyboard to the one with the key pad and finger touch. I like the key pad idea and I do wish Apple would get with the program, backlight keys for the imacs. I can buy one that does that, but I lose the finger print option and I am growing fond of that.

Hi

The bigger keyboard with the numeric keypad can also come with the Touch ID button. I chose that one on my model.

I never cared for Apple keyboards (well, the old ADB keyboard nicknamed "the barge" was ok).

Bein' an older guy myself, if you'd like an old-school keyboard that will outlast you, I'd suggest:
