The repair shop says that I need a new inverter for the LCD. They also said that the inverter is part of the LCD and so I need a new LCD. Is there anyway to fix/replace the inverter on the LCD without buying a whole new screen?
thx alot

I had a bad inverter on my mid-2007 24" iMac as well and indeed the repair was a complete panel replacement. The inverter board is apparently built into the panel. It is an $800 part but you can pick up used ones for less.
