I've got a 2017 iMac 27" and bought a Dell U2723QE to eventually replace the iMac and pair it with either my MBP 14 M3P or a new Mac Mini. The Dell is in vertical aspect, alongside, and connected to the iMac and I can also connect it (occasionally) to my MBP; albeit in vertical aspect.

However, whenever the Dell is switched on, the iMac fan goes crazy as the memory on the GPU is topping out (only just discovered this as the cause). Side note: The iMac fan also goes hard watching 4k videos without the Dell on.

I'm toying with getting the iMac 24 and then I can have the Dell connected to it in landscape ratio, side by side, with the iMac in front of me (1200mm wide desk). I can then easily connect my MBP to the Dell when required.

Thoughts? Anyone have the same setup?
