iMac 24" Power Question

Our Desktop PC(XP) has reached the end of its lifespan. I have decided on the 24" iMac because of the VESA mount. Now BB just offered a good discount on the 2.8 version with 24mnth 0% finance. I will add 4gb memory immediately and WD 1TB drive. I will be running parallels with Vista, An elgato video capture, video editing, and on the only game is Zoo Tycoon currently(kids).

Will the 2.8 model be enough power?
Should I get the 3.0ghz from Apple instead?
Should I wait for the new imac? HDMI or eSATA would be nice.

My guess is that HDMI and eSATA won't be quickly forthcoming on the iMac, because Apple really places it as a device that doesn't need external peripherals very badly. For a long time they didn't even both turning on display spanning on the iMac. And it didn't go DVI for a relatively long time either. One can never tell, of course, but I wouldn't hold my breath on either of those until after they've bowed elsewhere in the lineup.

I think HDMI or DisplayPort is unlikely on an iMac, as it has such a nice display already.

I think it could use more USB 2.0 ports, and I think it needs an eSATA port. FW800 is nice, but eSATA can be ~2x to ~4x faster.

As others have said, eSATA more than likely won't happen any time soon. It's a high end option and the iMacs simply don't need it. Sure it would be nice, but the target market for iMacs just don't go out and buy eSATA devices. For that reason it has the FW 400 and 800 ports.

The HDMI however can be accomplished with 2 adapters. The downside is (as I haven't heard anything about this if it works) you may not receive the audio doing this. Apple doesn't make a mini-DVI to HDMI adapter so what you'll have to do is get a mini-DVI to DVI adapter, then DVI-HDMI cable.

If the 20" came with an optional VESA mount, I would be a little irked that i did't wait. Maybe...
