does anyone have any idea if the next iMac screen will be hi def or not?
I looked at other posts but got lost in the maze of 24" posts!
hahhaa
I was wondering if it will be for sure as I am planning to buy one regardless but knowing in advance would be nice?
have there been any good rumors or speculations on this?

The 24" iMac has a 1920x1200 resolution, which is slightly better than 1080p. All current model macs support the lower resolution HD, 720p. Now HD-DVD/Bluray compatible software and HDCP support is a different matter entirely...

huh...
my buddy was just telling me that was why he won't get the iMac b/c it wont do HD on the screen and he does video stuff with his new HD camera. He is going for the mac pro even though he can't afford it realy... with the 23 inch monitor cause he says that is the smallest monitor that will do HD. and teh 30 inch is a waste of money for him.
but by the time he gets the mac pro with 23 " he could almost buy 2 24" iMacs!

I am pumped then if the current one will do it!

All current Macs can play 1080p video.

The 24" iMac and the 23"/30" Apple Cinema Displays can display 1080p video natively. All other Macs with built in screens can display 720p natively and will scale 1080p down to fit the screen.
