I'm thinking about getting an Imac because I'm selling my current mbp that's on my sig and was thinking about a mac pro.. but then the ending price with ram and an external monitor would cost too much $$ that I thought the new 24" imac has a nice h-ips screens + 2.8 or 3.06ghz core 2 duo extreme and now you can add the 8800gs as well.

Anyway I'm just curious if the 320gb hdd in the imac is 7200rpm and what company its from?

I might go with the 500gb or even the 750gb as I already have 1tb external hdd and the imac has fw 800.

Also is 3.06ghz worth it? I'm thinking about getting the 3.06ghz model because its just at 3ghz!

It's 7200RPM, manufacturer can be Hitachi, Western Digital, Seagate and so on. Apple does not use one hard drive manufacturer.

The 3.06 Ghz really isn't worth it, and is more for bragging rights than anything else. The benchmarks show there's no practical difference between the 2.8 and the 3.06.
