people help how to connect imac 21 to 27 via Mini DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort cable is it possible and if so how?
imac 21 as second monitor for 27 2011 with video card (GTX880M)

AFAIK, it isn't possible with that set up.

The only iMacs that can be used in Target Display Mode via Mini Display Port are the 27" Late 2009 and 27" Mid 2010. You can use any Mac that is capable of Mini DP out as a source to use with these iMacs as display. You can actually use non-Macs as well.

But...

The 21" Mid 2011 thru 21" Mid 2014 iMacs and the 27" Mid 2011 thru 27" Late 2013 iMacs can do Target Display Mode, but only via TB, and the source Mac must have TB1, TB2, or TB3 as well.

So, you can use your Mid 2011 iMac as a display, but only with a newer Mac that has TB. All most all Macs from 2011 to the 2020 line up can be used as the source.

thank you! are there any workarounds to solve this problem? or is it unrealistic?

re there any workarounds to solve this problem?
Maybe, but it would be very helpful to know exactly what your intentions are.

What do you plan to do with the two iMacs?

You want to extend the desktop and give you more space to work? Like a large desktop over two screens?

You want to mirror the screen from one desktop to the other?

Is some latency an issue or must it be similar to the latency of a natively connected display?

thanks! I would like to extend the desktop to display video in the final cut program, delays? and what connection options can there be if you have information on how to do this please share! ++ 9999999999 to karma! ))))

1. iMac 2010 21" does NOT support Target Display Mode.
2. Catalina dropped Target display Mode support.
3. A 21.5" full HD PC monitor cost something around $100.

Your attempt is pointless.
Yes I understand I read this)) suddenly there are people on the forum who bypassed the system and were able to make it work)))
