Hello everyone, I have an iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2014) and I’ve been having a issue with the fans ramping up a lot louder within the past couple of months + some issues with the computer not preforming as well.

I installed Fanny Fan widget and when under load (converting 1080p video) then fans and CPU temp went up to 3600 RMP, CPU 90/102c GUP 58c

If you active Siri on the mac, it will cause the fans to go down for a bit. (From 3600 to 1200 RMP)

I’ve tried restarting SMC and SMC/NVRAM with no luck fan can also get louder with just using Safari alone.

There are also issues with the computer being slower, with things like moving windows sometime lag issues with using software like After Effect causing lag / slower proformence.

Over on the bootcamp side (Win 10) games that original ran on the computer are now unplayable with massive lag spikes and frame drops.

Could this because of an issue with the CPU maybe needing its thermal paste replaced or somthing?

Thanks for your time,

Shizumi.

At first I thought maybe there's some sort of background process wreaking havoc on your CPU but since you seem to be experiencing the same issue running Windows 10 it must be something else. My guess is that maybe your air intakes are clogged with dust, have you ever cleaned them?

Yeah I have cleaned them prior (and before posting) I have been thinking about opening to see if there is somtign I can‘t get too. (tho I would need to order some adhesive tape to be able to stick it back together xD)
