Hi Everyone,

I just bought a new 2017 iMac early July that already comes with a 512 SSD installed in the machine. Normally, I never turn off the iMac; however, the one time I turn off my iMac after a few days of use because I was out of town, I came back and was unable to power the iMac up. I did all the unplugging and replugging with no avail. I took it to the Genius Bar, and the hardware had no issues, but the Genius Bar said that the shut down happened during and update and may have caused some issue. I assumed he also reset the PRAM because he mentioned that.

Now a week and half later, I shut my computer down, and the same issue of the computer not booting up happened again. This time I had my external hard drive plugged in, and I noticed that my external is being powered, but the iMac display would not power up. I tried to follow the instructions of resetting the PRAM and SMC.

I was wondering if anyone has these issues or knows what may be causing this issue.
