I am thinking of buying an iMac If I buy the 21 3.4 Retna with just 8 of ram :rolleyes:If I went for the 21 modal I would have to sell the Apple thunderbolt display :rolleyes:8 Gb of ram is too little and to get it upgraded to 16 would cost a lot from an independent Apple repairer plus of course the fusion drive to. Looking at the video of people doing it you have to virtually take the whole thing apart. Does anyone have any idea how much it would cost in the UK? I have been using the Apple thunderbolt for some time I think the 21 would take some getting used to.another thing I see is that the 21 has only a measly 32gb of SSD on the fusion drive:oops: Why they did not put an SSD in all there 2017? this is the

This is the 27 I see that the benchmarks show the 27 has higher multi thread scores. The two models are around the same price.

This isn't really a good time to be buying an iMac with rumours of a new iMac coming imminently. If you're only at the thinking stage then taking a 21.5" iMac apart to upgrade the RAM after the fact isn't really cost effective against the risk of damage or voiding your warranty. If cost is an issue would you have a problem with looking at Mac minis?

I wash,t thinking of doing it myself that would be beyond me. I have thought of that, but I do want a Mac with a graphics, not the onboard Intel one. This is the guy that can do it, he does it all the time this is the one I am after
mind you I don,t know how he got it so cheap they must be cheaper in the us.
