Greetings,
I have a chance to buy a fully loaded riMac 27 5K, 2014. Hardly used, since the guy doesn't like OS X, and received it as a present a year ago. He used it for syncing his iPhone, using iTunes, and to watch movies
But I think I have a problem. The warranty has expired... I have taken this iMac to test it out for a week or so, and to test the image retention problem as well. All was ok until a few moments ago. Small retention does appear, but I can get it easily fixed with white background.
I can get it for a pretty low price, so low that changing the display on my own cost still makes it worth it. Mind you, I'm speaking of i7 4,0GHz, 295X, 512GB SSD, 32GB ram version.
But kinda hard to decide even with price being low, since I will probably in near future have to exchange the display. I don't have to go to anyone to change the display, I can do it myself without any problems. So it's not like I'm gonna be without the iMac for a couple of days/weeks if the problem exhibits again and doesn't go away.
I will mostly use the machine for mobile/web development (unity3d, xcode, nodejs in sublime text). So I won't push it hard all the time, just when I compile. And will be using windows 10 with parallels (visual studio and .NET).
So, since I can get it for a low price, is it worth it or should I just skip it? I don't plan on buying the (probable) redesigned iMac, since I really can't stand apples tendency to make things smaller, lighter, thinner, and without ports at all. So if I don't purchase this one, I will probably buy another iMac 5k, probably 2015 version. But that one would cost me a lot more then this one
Any help would be appreciated, especially from users who have IR problems.
