Just checking to see if anyone has replaced a hard drive, with an SSD on a Apple iMac 5k 27" with these model numbers:

MK462LL/A
A1419

I'm going to upgrade ram and hard drive this week when PC arrives.

I'd say most people aren't willing to void the warranty by opening up a brand new iMac, given the fact that its a sealed computer and the risk vs. reward on the operation.

Upgrading the RAM is easy, at least on the 27-inch.
SSD would be much better in an external USB 3.0 case (or Thunderbolt).
The iMacs are not easy to open up, and an external drive (with the right choice of an external case) will be a useful upgrade.
I don't recommend opening up an iMac, unless you absolutely have to (because the internal drive is dead, and a certified repair shop is not local to you.
If you want to see why - review a teardown of your iMac on iFixit.com

Or - it's a new iMac. Send it back and get the internal storage that you really want as a custom order.
