Still waiting on my new 27" i7 imac. Trying to figure out if current desk is suitable. Can someone tell me the dimension in inches of the imac 27 from top of desk to the top of the imac

I guess Apple's website was less than helpful?
I found the info here: http://www.apple.com/imac/specs.html but it is possible that only I have access to this site and google.com.

Is this suppose to be a slam? I saw that picture wasn't clear to me so I asked!
Does that annoy you? It shows a computer with what looks like 20.4 but is that the 27 or 21.5. I have a great eye for measurements and am mechanically incline so i don't think it was such a stupid question. Next time I ask a question, i'll make sure your not on!

Calm down.
It says (the larger image) HEIGHT: 20.4 under the 27-INCH iMAC heading about 60% down on the image itself. A 27" iMac can and is 20.4" tall. That is because the iMac is wide screen and not full screen. It is always going to be wider than it is taller in this case.

Was it supposed to be a slam? No, it was supposed to be an answer to your proposed intelligent question. You can choose to post only when I am not around ( I hope you're a night owl ) or you can put me on ignore, that is entirely up to you.

Well IF 20.4 is the height with the stand included it will be fine. I guess I'll have to wait till it comes to verify that. It does show one picture with a height
20.4 (top of screen to what appears to be desktop height) but not sure which one that is since it is above both dimensions.

Ok i have to laugh at my self i see your point and i see the picture clearer now. Lol yes it is very obvious doh I missed that!
My apologies jess!

Papajz,

An underutilized resource for these forums is MRoogle which is a fantastic search engine. I'm not knocking you -- just trying to help. This way in the future, you may not have to wait for an answer if the question has been asked before.

Hope this helps,
Bryan

Dimensions NOT including stand

I just physically measured a 27" iMac.

Height 17 11/16" without base.
Width 25 9/16"
Height of viewable LCD only 13"
Width of viewable LCD only 23 3/8"
Diagonal of LCD is 27" of course. :)

I assume the Apple numbers of 20.4" for the height with stand are correct as ˆ didn't measure this.

NOTE: that the bottom of the unit has cooling vents (intake I think) so you cannot rest the bottom of the case on a desk. It needs and inch or so clearance to suck in cool air.
