I recently received my replacement iMac and I think it has a dead pixel. At first I thought it was something wet but when I tried wiping it off my screen it doesn't wanna remove. It's looks like its a couple of pixels. It's very noticeable when I'm on some type of white background (Facebook for example.) It bothers me paying $2000+ for an iMac and a dead pixel shows up.

Does anyone know if I could switch it through the store? Apple has them in stock and I don't want to wait.

they should have you set-up in stock, if not you can ask for over night shipping and they'll ship it AS SOON AS U scan your old one to send it back.. i sent one back one time by 5pm and got the new one the next day by 3pm, apple customer service is the best on the phone.. at the store... meh not as good

What do you mean by "they should have you set-up in stock"?

I bought an i5 and had loads of places that looked like wet spots on the screen and they were actually like a sticky glue and they were very stubborn to rub off but they did rub off .. I used the included cloth as I wanted to be careful .. Hope you will try this before you return :)

They might not replace it in stote for 2 reasons.

Apple considers the retail store and online store two different things, they wont let you return a computer purchased online to a retail store.

Secondly, most stores don't carry the i7 model, some do, most don't.

Isn't it funny that we get upset about one dead pixel out of 3,686,400?

But nonetheless, return it. If you think it annoys you now, just wait a few years down the line.

I found 2 as well but I could not tell you where they are without searching again because the pixels are sooo freaking small. I think there comes a time when you need to draw a line.

1 pixel? seriously?

one dead pixel? really? most panels have an acceptable percentage of dead pixels before they consider the panel damaged.

Here is what Apple says about it:

In the UK you can return it within 14 days no matter what reason. One dead pixel is good enough reason for me. Especially as my 2nd iMac replaced last week had one dead in the center and your view right on it. Return them and get what you paid for. My replacement is due tomorrow, I expect there will be something else wrong this time as I have little luck.
