Imac 27" i7 reliability

Hi friends; I have a Postproduction Studio for making motion graphics, compositing, animation, editing, multimedia and video effects, i have 2 MacPro one 2009 and another 2007, recently i lost my MacBook Pro for liquid spill and i thinking buying a Imac 2009 cause the MacBook wasn't to useful to me, i will buy a Ipad for basic and personal portable computing.

I owned two 2008 Imacs 24" with 8800GS 512MB a lost one for video card failure, so decide to sell the other, and never like me the temps with this machine, always working really hot.

So the question is; is the Imac 27" i7 trusty? how is the temperature? is really much better than i5?.

Any advice is welcome. Thanks

I got mine (i7, 8 GB of RAM, 2 TB HD) in November and have had no problems with it. It runs a little warm at times, but I haven't seen a temperature over 60C at the GPU, which is the warmest part of the machine.

I have had to change the batteries once in the wireless keyboard, and the batteries in the wireless mouse will need to be changed soon.

I've had the i7 iMac since march, no problems on my side either.

The temps will be like the 24 inch iMac-- a little cooler thanks to all aluminum frame and larger heat sinks.

Right now, as I'm typing this message, I have adium and 4 Safari windows open (one which is a youtube video and one a full window flashchat), my temps are as follows:

59c gpu
42c cpu

I've had a 27" imac since january and it stays a lot cooler than my 24" did. I play games on it and my temps are much lower than I remember on my 24".

I've had mine for a couple weeks now. No problems so far, although it runs a little hotter than I'd expect it to, but nothing beyond what other people have said in this thread. the entire back is aluminum, so it dissipates the heat quite nicely. And when under 100% load, the temp usually stays around 60C after the fans come on. I'm very happy with it.

But I'm REALLY happy with its performance. It absolutely blows the doors off my quad 2.66 Mac Pro in every possible way. My MP was getting 30-40 fps handbrake encodes, and I hit 230 fps with 64-bit handbrake today. Stunning.
