Hi everyone,

I'm looking for just a bit of an update on part availability as far as the Late 2015 iMacs go since from the sounds of things the physical HD part of my fusion drive is failing. I haven't been very keen on this whole fusion drive thing the entire time I've had it so I am looking to hit two birds right now and replace the faulty drive but also perhaps fix my limited storage issue.

I was following along with the info contained in threads such as https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/upgrades-for-imac-retina-5k-27-inch-late-2015.2206751/ about what people generally do for storage. I'm totally comfortable with the process of getting to both the regular HDD and also the little blade one on the logic board, what I am wondering is whether there's any more recent info on part availability for those? In a perfect world, I'd like to just have an adequate sized PCIe one for macOS and programs etc and leave the SATA one open for a really high capacity one I can store video on. So that said, has there been much development as far as those little adapters go for allowing the use of a M.2 form factor drive? (Have to admit, not keen on the usage of this unless they're for sure sorted out as far as reliability goes). Or is there much more availability of the proprietary ones? (I saw the OWC Aura Pro ones seem to be a heck of a lot cheaper than they were in 2016 so maybe those are worth a look now?).

I'll add as well that yes I am fully aware of just how easy it is to use external drives, etc but I absolutely despise plugging in external drives (don't know why, just bugs me) and this won't really solve the fact that the internal drive is failing. The primary use of the machine is for video editing and some programming and the remainder of the machine is fine performance wise and I intend to keep it for a long time yet (so long as nothing major fails), I just want the capacity sorted as well as replacing the failed drive.

Thank you in advance :)
