Hi! I recently received an iMac 27-inch Mid-2010 and when I tried to use it it would run very slow and eventually the screen would freeze and turn black. I decided then to upgrade the internals and started with the HDD which I upgraded to a SAMSUNG 870 EVO 4TB SSD and installed MacOS onto it and I was able to boot in and use the iMac until the screen would freeze and turn black again. So that is when I decided to just upgrade everything and I ordered 32GB (4 x 8GB) PC10600 DDR3 1333MHz from OWC, Intel Core i7-870 CPU, and a NVIDIA GTX 780M 4GB Video Card (For iMac 27" A1312 Mid 2009 2010 2011). The iMac had been showing everything up until this point before I switched the internal components that I bought (it would eventually freeze and go black but it at least displayed). I then began to swap the parts with the ones that I had purchased.

The picture above is before I swapped the newer parts (I took the disc drive and fan on the right out and then remembered to take a picture lol)

After I swapped the components and put everything back together and tried to turn on the iMac the backlight was on but the screen was still black (not displaying anything). Also, when I adjust the brightness on the keyboard the iMac does dim without displaying anything.

iMac with backlight on but screen black (not displaying anything)

I used SSH to update the firmware of the graphics card and I was successful so I know that the computer is working and hoped that it would solve the problem but it still gives the same display issue. I used a keyboard plugged into the iMac and the iMac made an error noise when I clicked random keys and the disc drive works (I inserted a disc and ejected it) so again I'm sure the computer works. I checked all the cables and even replaced two of them that looked a little worn out (Display Port LCD Video VGA Cable and V-Sync Cable) but that still did not fix the issue. I even tried using an external display with a mini-display to HDMI cable and it displayed on the external display and I used it for a day hoping that it would eventually fix itself but it didn't.

I also tried to take a picture of the iMac with its new internals without taking off all the cables and the screen (sorry if it looks bad lol)

Also, I just realized that all of these images are without the front glass panel and yes I still have it I just didn't put it on while working on it and taking pictures.

If you happen to know a possible solution to my problem please let me know! Thanks!!

On your external display.
Check if the iMac recognizes both displays.
A missing/broken transistor Q9001 on the top right corner of the logicboard also cause blackscreen. I broke mine twice during the disassembling process.
