I have been trying to boot to live CD versions of Linux Gparted, Parted Magic and Ubuntu to perform some disk mods on my 2010 iMac 27. The problem is even if I can get it to boot into the OS of said disk or even just the installer it will either very quickly or in a few minutes just power off the system it seems. Any ideas? I am thinking that maybe the system is running too hot for some reason or there are issues with the display drivers being used that cause a shut down.

Sometimes I can tell it's just a display driver issue, like in Ubuntu Live CD. The system does not power down and you can hear the CD working but there is nothing being displayed....

The two disk management Live CDs seem to crash at some point every time though.
