iMac 27 Late 2013 3.5 i7 to iMac 27 5K 2017 3.4 i5 worth it?

I am considering upgrading from my trusty old 2013 27 to a brand new 2017 5k, I can't afford the new 2019 27 and have been offered a deal on the newly discontinued model. Will I see any benefit besides the 5k screen? Is it a worthy upgrade? Any advice appreciated.

for each computer, new and old, list cpu, gpu, and hard drive/ssd/fusion. Then mention what apps you use. Are there instances in which you current computer seems slow?

For instance, a "upgrade" from a 2013 i7, 780m, 1 TB SSD" to a base model 2017 might not be such a great deal, depending on what you do with it

For mine I would have a 512GB - 1TB SSD installed and memory to at least 16GB.

I gave my iMac 14.2 as yours to my son and using it with as set out and a reasonable fast cable connection, he is still thrilled with it.

I have Late 2013 27” iMac 3.5GHz i7/32GB/3TB Fusion/GTX 780M and had restricted it to High Sierra to preserve NVIDIA Web Drivers and CUDA, but in the end, I updated to Mojave 10.14.4 last week and I am glad I did. It is much snappier now and seems to have less “quirks” than HS. Other than the 5K display and a faster GPU, you aren’t really trading up in terms of CPU power or I/O capabilities unless you have a real need for Thunderbolt 3 to hook up an eGPU or the 64GB DRAM ceiling. From what you’re saying, that doesn’t seem to be the case. I would say you might even be better off saving up for the base 2019 27” iMac, but not the base 2017, unless you are getting a HELL of a steal price wise.
