Have been running a 250GB SSD successfully in my 27" mid 2010 iMac for some time, and now just upgraded again to 1Tb SSD. On boot I get the chime but nothing on screen, (fans are running ok at normal speed).
Have re-checked all removed connectors (all were ok), and again correctly re-seated all. No change, still nothing on screen. I suspect the locking feature on the screen display cable 593-1281 as defective (photo attached), and plan to replace the cable.
Cables seen on Amazon indicate that cable 593-1281 and 593-1028 are interchangeable. This implies that iMac A1312 models (late 2009 and mid 2010) have cables that are interchangeable. Can someone very familiar with these models please confirm that to be the case, so if I find a 2009 model 27", the screen display cable will fit?

Thanks for the reply. I believe however that you misunderstood my question. I was querying whether cables 593-1281 and 593-1028 are interchangeable. I have since learnt that they are. I've just rebaked the GPU of a colleagues 27" 2009 iMac, and whilst disassembled I tried his 593-1028 cable in my 2010 iMac. It worked, confirming that my cable is problematic. I've now ordered that cable you referenced, albeit from Amazon for rapid convenience but obviously a little more expensive.

For info, if ever I wish to go down the GPU card upgrade for that same 2009 iMac 27", can you recommend any reliable suppliers? Even better still from where I could purchase a ready-flashed version to facilitate plug & play? I'd have no problem doing any mods to make it fit, but don't trust myself purchasing a replacement card and sucessfully making a Linux USB and flashing the VBIOS.

If you are comfortable with opening the machine to replace a MXM cards, why do you think you are not ready for a simple flashing command?

Better yet, get a cheap but still working PC and use it with atiwinflash, no command needed. 100% GUI.

Here are your options:

1. A mid tower PC + PCIe 1x to MXM adapter
2. A HP USDT PC with internal MXM slot.

Install windows to the PC and get the 100% GUI winflash.

For 2009 iMac 27", I would recommend HP WX4150 4GB. I got myself one of these. There is an ebay seller who are selling those for very affordable price.
iMac 2011 will not accept this card, but iMac 2009/2010 will. Works great, though.
